Commonly Used Terms For Air Compressors

Jun 27, 2022

Pressure: Usually the exhaust pressure given on the compressor nameplate is the gauge pressure, not the absolute pressure. Commonly used pressure units: bar, MPa, the air compressor industry says "kilogram" refers to "bar", that is, 1 kilogram means 1 bar, 1MPa (MPa) = 1000kPa (kPa), 1bar (bar) = 0.1MPa.

Volume flow: also known as exhaust volume or nameplate flow in China, the volume of gas discharged from the air compressor per unit time, converted to the inlet state, that is, the volume of suction, according to the national standard, the actual exhaust volume of the air compressor is ±5% of the nominal flow is qualified.

Commonly used units: m3/min, L/s.

Gas oil content: the mass of oil (including oil droplets, suspended particles, oil vapor) contained in the unit volume of compressed air, usually we say PPM for the weight ratio unit: PPM, one millionth of 1kg for milligrams.

Pressure dew point: is a certain pressure of the gas cooling to a certain temperature, it contains unsaturated water vapor into saturated water vapor precipitation, this temperature is the pressure dew point of the gas. Atmospheric dew point: It is the temperature at which the gas cools to a standard atmospheric pressure so that the unsaturated water vapor contained in it becomes saturated water vapor and precipitates out, and in the air compressor industry, the dew point indicates the dryness of the gas.

Specific power: It refers to the power consumed by the compressor per unit volume flow. It is an important index to evaluate the energy efficiency of compressor. The unit of specific power of air compressor: KW/m3. According to the standard GB19153-2009 "Energy Efficiency Limiting Value and Energy Efficiency Class of Positive Volume Air Compressor", the energy efficiency class of air compressor is divided into 4 levels.

Level 1 (the best level), Level 2 (energy saving evaluation value), Level T (target energy efficiency limit value) and Level 3 (energy efficiency limit value). The energy efficiency of Level 1 is the highest, and the production and sales are prohibited below Level 3. Level T is the target energy efficiency qualification level, and its energy efficiency is better than Level 3, which has replaced Level 3 energy efficiency value since December 1, 2013.

Level 1 reaches the international advanced level and is the most energy-efficient and consumes the least amount of energy.

Level 2 is relatively energy-efficient.

Level 3 consumes high energy and is the market access indicator.
