The Relationship Between Power, Working Pressure And Volume Flow Rate

1. In the case of constant power, when the rotational speed changes, the volume flow and working pressure also change accordingly; for example: a 22KW air compressor, the working pressure is determined to be 7bar at the time of manufacture, and the exhaust volume is 3.8 m3/min according to the technical curve of the compressor mainframe, and the rotational speed is calculated; when the working pressure is determined to be 8bar, the rotational speed must be reduced (otherwise the drive motor will be overloaded) When the working pressure is determined to be 8 bar, the rotational speed must be reduced (otherwise the drive motor will be overloaded), at which time the exhaust volume is 3.6 m3/min; because, the rotational speed is reduced, the exhaust volume is also reduced accordingly, and so on. 


The power selection is to meet the working pressure and volume flow rate, and the power supply capacity can meet the power of the matched drive motor. 


Therefore, the steps of matching air compressor are: first determine the working pressure, then determine the corresponding volume flow rate, and finally the power supply capacity.


2. The selection of volume flow rate will replace the previous model selection


A proper selection is beneficial to both the user and the compressor, but too large a selection is wasteful, and too small a selection may cause the compressor to be loaded for a long time or not enough gas or the pressure is not up.


-When choosing the volume flow rate of air compressor, you should first understand the volume flow rate of all the air-using equipment and multiply the total flow rate by 1.2 (i.e. enlarge 20% margin).

-New project start-up can be selected according to the flow rate value provided by the design institute.

-Referring to the original parameter value and the actual gas consumption for the selection of the compressor station transformation.


3. Power of air compressor:


Generally, the power of air compressor refers to the nameplate power of the matched drive motor or diesel engine.  

The unit of power is: KW (kilowatt) or HP (horsepower), 1KW ≈ 1.333HP.


4. The working pressure of the air compressor is determined by adding the previous pressure.


Pressure units expressed in many forms, here is the main screw air compressor commonly used to express the pressure unit.


-working pressure, often called exhaust pressure by domestic users. Working pressure is the highest pressure of the air compressor discharge gas. 

-Commonly used units of working pressure are: bar or Mpa, 1 bar = 0.1 Mpa;. 

-General, users usually call the pressure unit: Kg (kg), 1 bar = 1 Kg.
