Why Use A Vacuum Pump On An Engine?

Mar 25, 2022

First of all, the vacuum pump increases the braking force by generating negative pressure.

The vacuum pump, as the name implies, is used to generate vacuum, and its function is to generate negative pressure, thereby increasing the braking force. For diesel engine-driven vehicles, since the engine adopts compression ignition type CI, which cannot provide the same level of vacuum pressure at the intake manifold, it is necessary to install a vacuum pump that provides a vacuum source.

In addition, for the gasoline direct injection engine GDI designed to meet the higher emission environmental protection requirements, the same level of vacuum pressure cannot be provided at the intake manifold to meet the requirements of the vacuum brake booster system, so a vacuum pump is also required to provide vacuum source.
