General Knowledge Of Electric Motor

Jul 07, 2022

Motor, commonly known as "motor", is an electromagnetic device that converts or transmits electrical energy according to the law of electromagnetic induction.

The motor is represented by the letter M (D in the old standard) in the circuit, and its main function is to generate driving torque as a power source for appliances or various machines.

Classified by the type of working power source.

DC motor and AC motor

(1) DC motors can be divided according to the structure and working principle: brushless DC motors and brush DC motors.

2) Where AC motors can also be divided into: single-phase motors and three-phase motors.

According to the structure and working principle can be divided into.

DC motor, asynchronous motor, synchronous motor

(1) Synchronous motor can be divided into: permanent magnet synchronous motor, reluctance synchronous motor and hysteresis synchronous motor.

2) Asynchronous motor can be divided into: induction motor and AC commutator motor.

According to the starting and running mode, they can be divided into: capacitor starting single-phase asynchronous motor, capacitor running single-phase asynchronous motor, capacitor starting and running single-phase asynchronous motor and split-phase single-phase asynchronous motor.

They can be classified by application.

Motor for driving and motor for control

(1) Electric motors for driving can be divided into: electric tools (including drilling, polishing, grinding, slotting, cutting, reaming and other tools)

Electric motors for home appliances (including washing machines, electric fans, refrigerators, air conditioners, tape recorders, video recorders, video players, vacuum cleaners, cameras, hair dryers, electric razors, etc.) and other general small machinery and equipment (including various small machine tools, small machinery, medical equipment, electronic instruments, etc.).

(2) Control motors are also divided into: stepper motors and servo motors, etc.

According to the structure of rotor, it can be divided into: cage induction motor (old standard called squirrel cage asynchronous motor) and wound rotor induction motor (old standard called wound asynchronous motor).

According to the operation speed, they can be divided into

High-speed motor, low-speed motor, constant-speed motor and speed-controlled motor.

Low-speed motors are divided into gear motors, electromagnetic motors, torque motors and claw-pole synchronous motors.

DC motor is an electric motor running on DC working voltage, which is widely used in recorder, video recorder, video disc player, electric shaver, hair dryer, electronic watch, toys, etc.
